The "Sentiero Costiero" (coastal path) is a very scenic coastal path starting from the beach of Lampianu and leading to the ghost town of Argentiera ( It was a mining town, `Argento` means silver in Italian. The mine was exploited since the Romans period. The most florid period for the mining village were the 1940s. The town declined after World War II, and the mine was closed in 1963. Argentiera is now included in the Geological-Mining Park of Sardinia and preserved by UNESCO).
The pad goes along the coast, skirting the smallcliffs and coastal slopes. You will have the chance to see the Cala Lampianu , Muso di Porco, La Frana, Aque Dolci, La Frana and Porto Palmas. The path is very scenic and it is possible to get to the sea from it in various points. It is largely free of trees and is characterized by typical `Mediterranean macchia` species.
It is also possible to start in Argentiera and follow the patj fomr south to north. Do you want to live a special full-day experience? You can combine mountain bike and hiking reaching the Argentiera by bike (12km of white dirty road) from Lampianu, leave the bike in Porto Palmas and take the path going back to Lampianu along the sentiero Costiero.
